Corpus Christi School (CCS) will be offering an Extended Day option for preschool and pre-K students next fall. This additional program allows flexibility to meet the needs of children, as well as working parents.

Currently Corpus Christi School’s preschool (age 3) and pre-K (age 4) are half day. Families will still have the option of half day sessions for parents who choose this option, but beginning in August 2018, both preschool and pre-K students are invited to participate in the Extended Day program. Preschool will attend three days per week and pre-K will attend five days.

“Students in preschool participating would start class at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, stay for lunch, and then dismiss at 3:30 p.m. Students in the pre-K session would also start at 9 a.m., but attend five days-a-week, Monday through Friday, staying for lunch and dismissing at 3:30 p.m. with the rest of the school,” said Principal Dick Taylor. “The half days sessions also will start at 9 a.m. but dismiss at noon, prior to lunch.”

The Corpus Christi preschool and pre-K programs are designed to meet the social, physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of the youngest of students. Providing an environment that encourages children to learn and fosters a positive self-image, these early childhood options give them a head start in their formal education.

“Full day preschool and pre-K can benefit working families and Corpus Christi School wants to meet the needs of today’s parents. We provide a safe, friendly school environment that is based on Catholic tradition,” said Taylor.

“Children learn to work and play with others, while developing basic skills, needed for future education. Because we have small classes, the student-to-teacher ratio is excellent. We know that a positive preschool and pre-K experience is an important first step in a child’s education,” Taylor said.

The Extended Day preschool and pre-K programs offer opportunities to develop skills, interact with peers, and explore the world through a variety of hands-on activities and equip youngsters with tools to ensure their success in kindergarten and beyond.
