Corpus Christi School has received a $5,000 grant from the Highmark Foundation for the second year! The following initiatives will be a part of the “Crusaders for Good Health” program.  The program is designed to promote nutrition, hydration, exercise, and stress reduction for Corpus Christi students, parents, and our community. This year we will be purchasing water bottle filling stations to encourage hydration. Growing gardens in the classrooms to use fresh produce and spices on our salad bar during lunch. The “Two Bite” program will be in full swing again to encourage students to try new foods from the healthy food groups. Anna Harsh, certified yoga instructor, will be teaching the students again about yoga during gym classes. Workshops will be planned for the upper grades levels to focus on how to cope with stress and anxiety. Our goal is to promote health and wellness and keep our students and families healthy through our “Crusaders for Good Health” program.

Corpus Christi School has received a $5,000 grant from the Highmark Foundation for our “Empowering Kids –TOOLS for a Healthy Lifestyle” program. The Highmark Foundation understands that schools can be one of the most effective settings to promote health and wellness, and developed the Building Sustainable and Lasting Changes in School grant to support programs like our “Empowering Kids – TOOLS for a Healthy Lifestyle” program. Through this program, students will receive education about exercise, nutrition, stress reduction and the importance of prayer. The school was able to purchase a portable salad bar where fresh vegetables and fruits will be offered. The “Two Bite” club will encourage students to try new foods from the healthy food groups. We will have a “Kids Can Cook” class with the help of the culinary program from WVNCC. Anna Harsh, certified Yoga instructor, will be teaching the students how Yoga can benefit our bodies to stay healthy. We were also able to purchase some new gym equipment to be used in physical education classes.
