Corpus Christi School honored six alumni and friends of CCS on June 10 in the Parish Center. The festive event was held to recognize Corpus Christi School’s most notable alumni and friends and acknowledge their commitment to their communities, professions, and the school.
∫ Ed Boudreau resides in Warwood with his wife Jean. Ed has been very involved with Corpus Christi School for more than 40 years. He has served as president of the CCS Boosters, chairman of the Parish Council, served on the Finance Committee, chairman of Parish Festival for four years and coached football, boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ baseball, and girls’ softball in Warwood. All of their six children have attended and graduated from CCS as well.
∫ Tom and Peggy Dailer reside in Warwood. Tom graduated from Corpus Christi School in 1955. Peggy attended grade school at St. Michael’s Parish School and graduated from there in 1956. She became a member of Corpus Christi Parish when they moved to Warwood in 1965. They are both very active in the parish and school and known throughout the community. Mayor Glenn Elliott singled them out this year at his State of the City address as neighborhood champions, and recognize them for their dedication and volunteerism. All of their four children have attended and graduated from CCS as well.
∫ Super Bowl MVP Chuck Howley was born and raised in Wheeling. Howley attended Corpus Christi School and graduated in 1950. He currently resides in Dallas with his wife Nancy. He was a professional football player for the Chicago Bears (1958-1959) and the Dallas Cowboys (1960-1973) winning a most valuable player award of Super Bowl V. Howley is a charter member of the West Virginia University Sports Hall of Fame and also is a member of the Wheeling Hall of Fame and West Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. He still visits Wheeling and attends Mass at Corpus Christi Parish when he is in town.
∫ Jack Schuetz graduated from Corpus Christi School in 1950 and resides in Wheeling, with his wife Sandy. All of their six children have attended and graduated from CCS. He was inducted into the West Liberty University Athletic Hall of Fame for baseball and football in 1995,and has received the Warwood Lions Club Citizen of the Year in 2004.
∫ Monsignor Edmund J. Yahn attended St. Vincent de Paul School and graduated in 1917. He was ordained on May 30, 1928 by Archbishop-Bishop Swint and appointed assistant at St. Joseph’s Cathedral and became Pastor of the Cathedral in 1942. He served as the fifth pastor in the Corpus Christi Parish from 1955-1972. His legacy is fondly remembered by parishioners and students of Corpus Christi School alike.
The evening included dinner catered by Generations Restaurant and Pub followed by inductees bios read from CCS Alumni Tyler Faulstick and remarks from Corpus Christi pastor Monsignor Eugene Ostrowski, Principal Dick Taylor and Advancement Director Miranda Shaner.
“Thank you to everyone who donated, attended, and helped plan with the second Hall of Fame induction ceremony and dinner. We truly appreciate the support and what all of these inductees have done for Corpus Christi School and Parish over the years,” said Shaner.
More than 100 guests turned out for the event.
Proceeds from the event will support the 2017 Crusader Campaign that directly benefits the school. Dollars this year have funded scholarship opportunities, Arts and STEAM (Science, Engineering, Art, and Math) programming, and general operating needs of the small private school.

Corpus Christi School marks its 101-year anniversary this month, and is one of 20 parish elementary schools in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. Led by Principal Taylor, it enrolls students preschool through eighth grade. For more information call 304-277-1220.
